Over the last 18 years Martin Hodge has explored the relationship between aesthetics and machine forms in sculpture. Many of Martin’s sculptures demonstrate the possibilities of representing transparency within solid forms. He has developed these ideas through static and kinetic works in a variety of media.
His recent work is concerned with ways of embellishing surfaces with pattern and typography. This concept was recently explored in the context of graphic design for an art commission in La Fontaine Lane, Melbourne. Martin has also designed a collection of laser cut screens which has evolved from this exploration of surface decoration.
Martin works out of his studio in Melbourne, Australia.
